The Simplified Chinese character for dragon is  and is pronounced as “lóng“.

The dragon is one of the Four Benevolent Animals in Chinese mythology and one of the twelve members of the Chinese zodiac. Dragons played a major role in China’s history. They represent power and authority, particularly control over typhoons, water, rainfall and floods. Emperors were assumed to have descended from dragons.

And while in European cultures, the dragon is a fire-breathing creature with aggressive connotations, the Chinese dragon is a spiritual and cultural symbol that represents prosperity and good luck, as well as a rain deity that fosters harmony.

So we cannot but wish all of you a New Year of wisdom, strength, and hidden knowledge and a life full of success, prosperity and good luck!

This fabulous tactile series combines two terrific, kid friendly features: touching different textures in a book plus animals. What’s not to love?
